Being Berliners

Berlin is mayhaps the trendiest place on earth. The only people who live there are stylish young thangs, museum curators, and kebaberie owners. Truth.

While in the city, we saw some pretty amazing, pretty historical things, but that's not really all that important. What IS important is food. And we ate some good food. My favorite meals? Glad you asked.

Maria Peligro: We did not plan to go to this restaurant. We planned to go to a burger restaurant in a repurposed public toilet under the S-Bahn tracks, but it was flooded. The irony. However, that unfortunate happening led us to Maria Peligro, where this Texan princess feasted on some quality Mexican food. Of course we started with guacamole - good - and I had potato and red pepper tacos - goood. I was in dire need of that little taste of home.

Whats-her-Bucket: I forgot the name of this restaurant, but it was really good Vietnamese food. Take that worth a grain of salt (or rice...), though, because it was my first experience with Vietnamese food. All I know was that it was tasty, and they brought out my green tea in the cutest little teapot. Points.

White Trash Fast Food: Better believe it. This is a restaurant/bar/punk club that took it's decor from the tackiest furnishings from a Chinese restaurant and an Irish pub. If you're not scratching your head already, their specialty is hamburgers. Darn good hamburgers. And they bring you a whole lotta jalapenos for .50 euro.

Other than eating, we had some wild walking tour escapades, we showed ancient antiquities who's boss, I had a "clairely molly" encounter with a museum guide, we sang happy birthday to Leo(Leon?), we browsed an outdoor flea market, we matched clothing more than once, and we bought replacement pants for 7 euro. That last one was just me.
