Hey! I graduated! Let me tell you about it.
My festivities began on Friday, when my parents+grandparents rolled in and I immediately put them to work moving boxes out of my room. I count this as a festivity because any time spent with the fam is a serious celebration. It was, as it always is, very great to see them. I would hazard to say that spending an extended amount of time away from your family is worth it for the joy of reunion. I rewarded them for their hard work by introducing them to my roommate's family over dinner. I count this as a reward because this family is the bomb dot com.
Saturday (GrAdUaTiOn DaY!) started off by moving more boxes. Moving is seriously the pits. This time my family did it in their church clothes, so I rewarded them for their hard work by taking them to lunch with the boyf's family. I count this as a reward because this family is also the bomb dot com. I also rewarded them by getting a degree.
Graduation was held in our basketball arena, and all of the graduates were instructed to meet in a back gym to line up and get organized. It was intimidating to walk into a huge room filled with a sea of black robes and square hats, everyone seemingly someone I had never seen before. And then I saw them. The row of NREs. My fermerNREy. And everything was okay with the world and I was with my people. Let me once again sing the praises of being in a small major and knowing everyone as a friend. Then luck had it that I saw Danny, of Croatian camping fame, and got to grab a pic with him. They kept us in a hot tunnel for a while until it was time to process in, and after procession I found myself in the best seat in the house. Everything was alphabetical by last name, landing the trio of Conant-Cook-Cook all in a row. The Cook Ladies met in sorority recruitment, even before the first days of class freshman year, and Conant was added in the first weeks of freshman year when we all joined Emerging Leaders. One Cook convinced this Cook to switch to nuclear within a month, and the Cook Ladies combined their powers to convince Conant to switch to nuclear within a semester. And the rest was history. Really perfect history, too, because the other two started dating this past year creating the Lizzie McGuire finale situation that should have been, where Lizzie dates Gordo and Miranda didn't go on a vacation with her family to Mexico City. If this wasn't enough, I also ended up right behind Danimal, and since I have to take every single occurrence as a sign or symbol, it was like the Lord brought me full circle and placed my first and lasting Tech friends to surround me for the ceremonial end to our undergrad careers. I admit that I am a bit of a perpetual grump. And sometimes I don't appreciate things. And sometimes I look for things that I can turn into miseries and tarnish my perceptions. But on that day in that seat with those people, I was comforted. I love my memories of Tech. Now photos!

Thank you for making a Lizzie McGuire reference. I loved that show and may or may not have watched the movie recently...
